Is 7.62x54r.net still active ?
Ive noticed that despite many of the arsenals responsible for the refurbishment of the 91-30 and said factory's respective arsenal emblems being identified, 54R.net has still not updated it's information. Including still calling the Moscow Military District arsenal mark, a DDR mark. It's a great sit...

Ammunition Question
Saw some surplus spam cans, the typical Light Ball with steel core, or "LPS". Most were Soviet but there was at least one Bulgarian can in the mix. I noticed that despite seemingly being the same ammunition, some of the cans lacked the silver color code strip of paint. Is there a differenc...

Chinese SKS light primer strikes
My Type 56 Carbine seems to be having issues lately, the firing pin just isn't setting the rounds off, on a full magazine of 10 rounds, it seems like every other round fails to fire. Upon ejecting these "dud" rounds, you can clearly see where the firing pin has struck the primers. I loaded...

Re: 7.62x54R stripper clips in detail
Excellent write up, one question on the Chinese clips with the fake Tikkakoski stamp.
Are they made for the western market specifically or were they actually in use with the Chinese ?

Re: 1917 Tula video
Nice M91. good deal, I am rockisland1913 on youtube been at the video thing for a few years, I do videos when I have time. I show the rifle and give just enough information to make the viewer curious, let them work for the rest themselves. Disable the like/dislike crap, it takes away the pleasure y...

Re: New to me rifle
That is a good thing, just more added history. Your rifle started life as a M1891 Dragoon. A rifle originally designed for mounted infantry. It was likely brought to M1891-30 configuration during the post war refurbishment process.tpsharp wrote:Is that a good thing or bad?

Re: New to me rifle
Nice rifle, manufactured at the Izhevsk arsenal in 1930. Refurbished after the war at the 1st GRAU facility in Balakliia Ukraine. Both your stock and your rifle have the Balakliia arsenal box with diagonal slash insignia. Check to see if your rifle is an Ex Dragoon by looking under the rear sight ba...

Re: Mosin magazines
I have had some issues with the mosin magazine as well, one of mine will simply not work unless you're sure to load the rounds in such a way that they dont rim lock with each other, I suppose it all comes down to what condition your interrupter is in.

Re: Mitchell's Mousers
The K98 rifles they sell are actually M48 Mausers rifles. He bought a sizable bunch of them and refinished, stamped with Nazi markings and reblued them. This can be be verified by looking up Mitchells Mausers in the Blue Book of Gun Values, it tells the whole story. This is quite simply not true. T...

Mosin Vs Mauser
Ah, the eternal struggle of YouTube gun channels everywhere lol, anyway, was just looking through the fifth edition of Mauser Military Rifles of the world and saw this picture of Mauser Model 71 bolts. I have talked before with you guys about the Mosin Nagant's lineage and the consensus was that eve...

Re: Tips for not scratching handguard
Look to the bottom of the band... It can be separated & spread. Always remove the cleaning rod first; Then, with a blunt flathead screwdriver or similar tool carefully spread the band allowing the tip of the tool to traverse along the cleaning rod channel. Less is more, take your time & don...

Re: WWII mosin production video- questions
I actually find it more awkward to pull straight back on that bully of a cocking piece than to actually just exert the extra force to operate the bolt in the usual fashion. I would have to agree... The only time I ever do it is when sticky bolt rears it's ugly head. :angry4: I still have plenty of ...
