Re: Rescue Operation question
Also btw I use SGAmmo and it took from 12/27 to 1/9 for 1 440rd can. Yeah that's not normal. Depending on when you ordered that day I bet it was shipped the next day. Usually anything ordered by 3pm ships the next morning. When did the UPS tracking say it was picked up from them? You had the New Ye...

Re: Two more! Should be done for a while...
Very nice pick ups. I picked up my third MN today. Got a 38 Tula round receiver 91/30.
Not to steal the thread, mine will have its own when I've cleaned up and got the camera out justchiming in. Before I even read it, I knew that 32 hex was a Tula. Good work man.

Re: Rescue Operation question
Thank you all for the advice. Went ahead and passed it up, seller did not respond to my inquiries anyway. Good things come to those who wait..as I stumbled across a 1938 Tula in another Big 5 and walked out for 119 out the door. https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/p480x480/404715_10...

Rescue Operation question
Skip to paragraph 2 to avoid background: So bad news, Big 5 in Vegas supposedly will no longer be stocking our lovelies. Meaning, the 91/30 and 38 I have are it as far as big box stores. I have not found a gun store that stocks them yet, and I'm trying to buy local before I bite the proverbial bulle...

Re: 1945 M44??
Shame about the bayonet missing, reminds me of my M38 since it sits on a 44 stock. Great pick up for what you paid if you intend on shooting it moreso than displaying, I am hoping to score a Tula M44 at some point just for the collection. Can't wait to see how the rifle looks clean. Definitely looks...

Re: Yugo Mauser Pricing Question
These are regular stocked guns for big 5 if that one is gone ask if they will order a couple more. I always ask if they will order 2 so i can pick between them. I have bought a lot from them so they do it everytime, an added plus is that the gun people are good looking knowledgeable girls at both s...

Re: Yugo Mauser Pricing Question
You should be able to get it on sale for $199 if you talk to the right person. I do a lot of dealings with big 5 and i ask them about sales and such. Those were just on sale like last week or so. I would ask them if they might do a late sale price on it. If not try to see if they will give you a sa...

Yugo Mauser Pricing Question
Hey all, Thanks to all for your advice on picking up the Mosin M38 in the other forum for 160. There's an 8mm Yugoslav Mauser on the rack at Big 5 here. It's priced at 299. I held it, the bolt looks good, the rifle is a solid wood finish, and it's definitely Yugo. The seller didn't know much about i...

Re: surplus ammo steel core?
440 desert rounds woohoo. Thanks for the insight. Check with your local range though, some won't allow steel core at all, some only after it rains, and some dont have any problem with it at all. Just found out the new range in town is ok with it. It's backed up against a mountain and all sand and g...

Re: AIM At It Again With Laminate M91/30 with Tula Hand Pick
I saw a bunch of those revolvers at the recent gun show. I think when I buy my first collectible handgun it will be either a Makarov or Tokarov. I really want a Makarov. Tokarov's are pretty expensive now adays from what I have seen, but I could only have seen some extremely good ones or just a bad...

Re: AIM At It Again With Laminate M91/30 with Tula Hand Pick
Again, reason 999 I need my federal license. I need this! ugh (119=200 after fees...it's time to bite the proverbial bullet and get to federal paperwork on payday) Why so many fees? I just pay the transfer fee, which is 20 bucks at the closest gun shop. Not any sales tax. I called (my people, not A...

Re: surplus ammo steel core?
If I have 440 rounds of red army surplus coming in the mail I can't afford to be picky if I somehow screwed this up, but if they're an undesirable core should i not be worried about firing them through the rifle knowing to clean it up after the fact for corrosion, or do I have 440 wall hangers?

Re: Barrel Ring Problem
^--I think you can actually see that in one of the pictures. I think this needs a sticky and renamed to "what happens when you 'mod' a mosin?" Nothing personal OP, I just figure you weren't expecting the kind of responses based on your excitement (see after next paragraph for that explanat...

Re: Barrel Ring Problem
My M91/30 barrel bands won't move. I've accepted this. It's got the clamp kind, I don't see any screws or anything, just two fitted pieces of metal. I doubt those open up without never closing again. Would my doubt be correct, or do my bands move after all? (The spring presses down, the band wont b...

Re: Aim Surplus is at it again!
Both of my rifles have laminate stocks...granted, I have a lot of collecting ahead of me, but I was beginning to worry I'd never find a wood stock. I need a FFL. Stat.
