Just picked up this No. 4 Mk 1 today. Bought it locally from a friend for $300. Looks like a BSA rifle due to the mechanism for removing the bolt and the fact that it is not marked for Lithgow. Took it to the shop and cleaned and inspected it. Failed No Go but passed Field (barely, but passing is passing).

Serial Number and year-1942 and 18650.

Discreet import marks-compared to the "LOOK AT ME" billboard style markings now required, worn to the point that it's pretty much illegible.

This number is on the bottom of the buttstock. Rack Number perhaps?

Numbers stamped into the stock pieces appear to match the serial number.
I didn't take a photo of the magazine, but it has a dent in the bottom where the armorer stamped 10812 on it.
So now I have a No. 4 Mk 1 and a No. 4 Mk 1* that became a No. 4 Mk 1/3 FTR.
