Re: Off on a Mosin trek today...

Well it turned out pretty good. A very nice 1943 Izhevsk which is exactly what Ive been looking for. Odd I know but 1943 has been the connection point of my connection and I dont have any wartime built Mosins. All numbers matching and shiny bore. Very nice stock. I got the rifle, a spam can, sling, ...

Off on a Mosin trek today...

A guy on armslist in my area posted grainy pictures of a 91/30 on armslist. I promptly responded and asked for better pictures and got more grainy pictures. [emoji1] But Im off today and his asking price and all the extras are attractive so I thought why not... heading that way in a few hours and wi...

Re: M1 Carbine info

Well I went out and shot this thing. First shot took the X out of the target, but I could not get it to feed properly. Ejection was good and I really think it was the two junk magazines that came with it. Time to order some USGI mags I guess. When I bought my Winchester a couple of years ago, it ha...

Re: Frozen Mosin's

The fact that it is in Northern Maine in the dead of winter makes it a real challenge. Especially laying prone on the frozen ground. Jonnyboy, I here you about the ammo. My M39 seems to favor the Tula ammo. -8 degrees this am , hope it warms up before the shoot! . Sad when its colder in Indiana tha...

Re: Just back from the Mosin graveyard

I tried to use Armslist a few times as a buyer. Everyone I happened to speak with was just flakey. Every once in a while I check it out, but don't have the time to weed through hundreds of posts to find one deal. Ebay is the safest and most secure way to buy and sell non-gun items. I've done hundre...

Re: Manufacturing Specifications for 7.62x54R Mosin Nagants

I completely agree with that BD. Im just happy shooting them. If I can drop them all inside a 6" circle great but I dont shoot Mosins or an C&Rs for groups. I have modern rifles for that. I shoot them for the feeling, nostalgia, and experience.

Re: Finn M39 & Hungarian M44

I remember when that worn blue M39 would have been $45, I bought one like it for $125 back in the last decade, today I would have to pay at least $300 or more for the same rifle, tomorrow? I agree with that. When m39s pop up in my neck of the woods they are $350 plus. And you gotta wade through a s...

Re: Finn M39 & Hungarian M44

Wait a month or so, if they are still there then make an offer again. I don't know how easy it is to find Mosins in person were you are, or if you have a C&R FFL. If you are unlikely to ever see such rifles as these again then buy them. Overpriced a bit, but not by that much, and time has a way...

Re: Manufacturing Specifications for 7.62x54R Mosin Nagants

I doubt that 1940s wartime machining tolerances fall into a +.001/-.000" tolerance territory. I would suspect that based on gauging types available and material types that their tolerances would fall more into a +-.002" realm. Im typing this while sitting at a machine which from time to ti...

Re: Just back from the Mosin graveyard

Ive always had good luck on armslist. If something seems off I just delete the email and move on but Ive made extremely lucrative trades on armslist especially in milsurps. Traded a Norinco sks for 4 91/30s awhile back even. :)

Re: Nagant Revolver

Yeah; these from AIM are nice, so I ordered another this morning. Edit: I talked to AIM via email and it looks like this batch may be mostly early production. Would be cool if I get something pre-Soviet Union. Developing... Very interesting. Would be nice to see something WW1 era at the lgs soon!

Re: Nagant Revolver

Yeah I wished I had bought one when they were $100 but I was just starting so it wasnt a priority. I got an alert from AIM a couple days ago but didnt have the funds. Then my wife texted me today and told me to ahead and order one (she does our finances and I was in the midst of changing the battery...
