[SA] 91/30's over the years...
With everyone crying about how typical refurb 91/30's are selling around $100 each I thought I would share a few [SA] Izhevsk 91/30s I got back in 2007. Now do I post these to torture you? A bit... But mostly to remind you that today's high prices are tomorrows bargains. Happy Shopping.
First up is a 1938 Izhevsk with Finn hangers. Solid bore, great trigger, hit's a little high but is consistent & accurate. Who can complain for $65 shipped??
Next is a 1939 Izhevsk, Better bore than the 38, better trigger & hits POA... No shooting high on this one. Was $65 + shipping.
And here are a few of my more recent additions from last year....
1937 [SA] Izhevsk 91/30
Got this one on another Forum, it had been available for the better part of a week & the seller lowered the price. Didn't think much of it until another price drop & I couldn't pass at that point. It's a Double stamp [SA], Finn match bolt, cool repair on the stock around the crossbolt, Finn 2-peice stock, great stock finish & very nice bore. Smooth action & crisp Finn trigger. That & it fills another year. A bit more than my earlier $65 ones but still fair at $130 shipped.
Next up....
1936 [SA] Izhevsk 91/30
This was from the same forum... Different member. It too sat for a bit, had a drop in price & I had to go for it as well. Not as nice as the 37, but it filled a year I didn't have, had that "Rode hard pony" look, [SA] stamp upside down on the opposite typical corner & did I mention it was Finn??? Paid a few $$$ more for this over the other but I just had to have it.
Turns out the owner before the seller bought it, hung it on his mantle & that's where it stayed. It does have a small & faint CAI import stamp on the end of the barrel so I'm guessing it was a mid to late 90's import???
When it arrived it needed some help. Stock was dry as a bone, bolt was stiff & I soon found rust falling out of it. bore was a bit rough with pitting & a little rust, counterbored & missing cleaning rod. Also, mismatched upper handguard, original pre-war Soviet stock was oiled by the Finns.
I took it to the bench, completely disassembled it & put a liberal soak of Lemon oil on the wood. I put all the small parts including the bolt in a bucket & soaked them in oil. I treated the stock four times before it was done... It was very dry from sitting on that mantle over the years. But I saved it, stopped the rust, got the bore to a respectable level & gave it a good coat of oil for storage. Bolt works smooth again & it too has a nice trigger. Cost? $135 shipped.
My Fleet of [SA] Izhevsk 91/30s'
(Bottom to top)
1936 [SA], 1937 [SA], 1938 [SA] & 1939 [SA]
Overall.... If you can find a [SA] 91/30 for under $200 in today's market you should grab it.... They will only get more expensive over time.

The best 91/30's are the ones that look like these, I remember seeing these in '07, or whenever you first posted them

I love the Finns
Never know, one of those may be picked off a dead Ruskie on the Raate road or taken from a soldier that Simo Hayha shot.

VERY nice collection, sir!! I too, am collecting by year-for both Tula and Izhevsk. I'm making headway, but there are just SOOO many years to fill!
At least yours are consecutive. Mine are all over the place

I would love to have year by year SA's. Or even unrefurbed SCW and SA together would be nice. I have matching 39s right now, tula and izhevsk with SA, D and 41 marks. The only 2 i have seen here ever.

I have a few of those as well. They are generally harder to find
How about one with SA, D, and 41 stamps with a little PL sprinkled on top? Don't forget the refurb mark with dot matrix import defacing to verify it as a capture/recapture
I've only ever seen one other PL, SA, 41, and D marked 91/30 - but it wasn't a capture/recapture. Probably not m(any) others like this one around if you think about all of the variables it would take lining up. But it's cool when the sum of the stampings can really allow the rifle to, "speak" to us of it's history and travel.
