SCW 91/30 with a twist

Post by Miller Tyme »

Picked this one up just this week from an on line auction. It has a lot going for it that I like, 1st it is a SCW Mosin which I collect, It's a 1936 Mosin which is one of the years I really concentrate on collecting, and it is the 1st SCW Mosin that I have seen stamped with the duel date 1936-7. Other than that it is your typical SCW mix master rifle with the possible exception of this one have a fairly nice and shiny bore.

A special Thanks goes out to NLMosin in his assistance in acquiring this rifle for my collection.

Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

I saw that one. First one I have seen with the date like that.

Cool rifle for sure.

Really cool

I wonder about the bolts on these SCW's and others. The font is so abnormal. Any ideas what arsenal (I think Izhevsk based on the butt plate) and the date of the rifles these bolts came from? Maybe original stampings but I don't know.

The bolt S/N is an Izhevsk stamped S/N, the S/N falls into the range of Izhevsks shipped to Spain in both 1936 & 1937, but since the Russian recycled S/N's each year it could just as easily be from any year since the supplied both new production Trials rifles and 91/30's as well as old school M91's and Dragoons

Have you ever found a serial number on a scw bolt, mag or butt plate that matched another scw rifles barrel serial.

I have a 1936 scw Tula serial# 1683. Less than 600 apart is kinda close so I assume mine must have been late in 1936.

Not yet Lee, but I do check each one I get against the others in my collection.
