Art from the front lines

Post by White Horseradish »

This is a page of works by Vasily Aleksandrovich Nikolaev. He was one of the artists who stayed behind in Leningrad and worked on posters and newspaper illustrations during the siege. He was killed in an artillery bombardment in 1943

This page has some other artists, who were in various places throughout the war. The page is in Russian, but it's really just a list of names.Click on the names, they are links to individual pages.

Thanks for posting that. Those are some really good stories from the front. Change the uniforms, and they could have been any army in the war. The men doing the fighting are not too different on either side of the line. It is the REMFs that make the difference.

Thanks for the link :)
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.
Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft.
