Heres another one...

Any ideas on this marking hidden under dried Cosmoline on a 1936 M/28-30

It's a circle sectioned off with a straight line about 2/5 in on the right side with about a D shape with lettering around the inside of the circle.

You must have missed the part about my hatred for Cosmoline. Plus that would be the easy way to identify it.

Instead I'm going to do it the Nancy Drew way.

Both scratchings are done right side up how it looks on the stock. There is definitely wording going around the inside of the circle at least on the left side of the circle there is.

So much for the 1941 theory and subcontracted barrels. The same mark is found here on 1944.

I found the IV marking on a 43 Sako...but I am losing track, does this mean mine is worth $1000+ or did I just bring everyone's value down a little more?!?!
