new member 1937 Mosin Nagant

Post by blind prophecy »

Hi everybody I just purchased my 2nd Mosin and being a new member I figured I would share it in my first post and hopefully find out a little more about it. I know it is a 1937 91/30 Izhevsk, glad to be here and thank you for your time. Most numbers match or force match except floor plate is crossed off and FM'd

Welcome to the Forums!

Wow, they really did stamp the heck out of that one didn't they! Nice looking '37 Izhevsk though. Have you had this one out to the range yet?

Thanks, I was cleaning her up and couldn't believe all the stamps on her. Haven't had the chance to shoot her yet..
Hoping to get some range time this weekend if possible.

Nice looking Mosin ! I really like the pics of all of the stampings underneath the stock.

Looks like your rifle has an encircled (k) "Point of aim" proof mark and the circle within circle "Accuracy" proof mark on the right of the barrel shank.

It also appears to have the "Provisional black powder" proof mark to the left of the Soviet crest and a Ukrainian arsenal refurbishment mark below the date.

List of markings can be found here.

Thank all of you for the warm welcome, I noticed the bolt gets a little heavy when chambering a dummy round. Is this normal for most mosins, I'm asking because my 39 is quite a bit easier chambering a round. Thank you again all of you for the help and the welcome.
