A two-fer on Black Friday

My cousin and I both work together, he was looking for a place to get in a little hunting in before the end of rifle season which was today. Thursday while we were at work, I invited him and his family over and let him and his daughter have the run of the property, roughly about 38 acres. She is a archery fanatic and only 14 yrs old and she did spectacular. I went out with her, got her set up and went back into the basement to piddle around with an engine. She dropped one just before dawn and was tickled to death, all the way out of the woods, she grinned ear to ear, this wasn't her first or biggest. He took the other side of the property, close to a somewhat recently harvested corn field and very closely borders the National Forest. He scored about an hour and a half after her. We cleaned them up, checked them in and later in the day had our Thanksgiving meal and a beer or two.

It was a day late holiday, but it was one of the most enjoyable ones either of us has had in a while. We both missed out on all the idiots, traffic and shopping riots, and I get me some deer jerky

She got a very nice deer. Great job and a much better thanksgiving than spending it pushing your way through a crowded store.
