+1 you know I appreciate a recovery as much as anyone here even though I try to stay away from commitment like that. If any battle rifle deserves restoration it would be a MkIII Enfield.

Hey Jim. I noticed that your bayonet is a Sanderson. Most I see for sale are Wilkersons. What is the availability and price difference in the two. BTW I have 2 Sandersons.

EriK, I bought that bayonet for $20 in 1987, that was the going rate for any British 1907 bayonet at that time, I haven't checked into availability since then because I bought a pile of them for my rifles. I don't remember what the others are, I will have a peek at the once that are out when I get home. I have not seen production numbers for either maker. Note that this is the nickel plated bayonet, it was an oddball that I noticed even with it's grease coat in the box of bayonets I pulled it out of, some of that grease is still on it.millman wrote:Hey Jim. Re: No1 MKIII* 1917 Enfield back from the dead
Back before the law was changed in eighty six Bubba rifles were mostly what we would see at the shops and flea markets. I tried to stick to rifles that had unaltered barrels so there was at least a hope of putting them back. Parts were not so easy to find then so I put it away until now. If you wanted a milsurp sometimes you had to start with Bubba, I think I paid $20 for this.etprescottazusa91 wrote:Rongo wrote:Great recovery!

Hey Erik, I have the brother of the 1917 that Jim has here, and I need a bayonet bad. Would you like to trade something for one of your bayonets?
Re: No1 MKIII* 1917 Enfield back from the dead
I would, but when they aren't on my rifle they are mounted on a display, and they make a nice matched pair. Sorry.bunkysdad wrote:Hey Erik, I have the brother of the 1917 that Jim has here, and I need a bayonet bad. Would you like to trade something for one of your bayonets?

I would post a pic of that one but I am in the middle of sorting the photobucket pics and the link would be broken when I moved the pic to the British guns album later in the week.
