Congrats. The overall condition is superb, as well. Difficult to upgrade a specimen like that.

Just think about the stuff just sitting in little gunstore racks marked " Russian rifle" even as we look this one over, the stuff is out there.

Don't forget the mosins marked as mausers, enfields, and just about any other milsurp. It cracks me up when some are misidentified even when they a big descriptive import mark in them.

I always assume for every rare rifle found there are probably three to five others just like it out there in bubbas hands or in a closet. Only a small percentage of unique rifles probably end up in the hands of collectors.

One of my Finn Mosins is marked as a Mauser on the import stamp

My first question would be is that indeed M91 length? My second statement would be congrats regardless of what the answer is! Do you know how hard it is to find that particular hand guard in one piece? I have been a couple of M91RV's and never seen that hand guard in one piece or even present with the rifle. Just proof of how often we overlook the trees for the forest! Great Find for sure! Let me guess $175? I really don't care as it was well worth the cash. I have noticed something on the M91RV versus the M27Rv's I have seen from you pictures and other ones I have seen. See how straight cut the relief in the butt stock is on that rifle? On most M27RV's they seen to have learned to make that cut and roll the edges of it much more like the Mausers they were copying. Shame the disc is missing as that would tell us the unit for sure and now we can only guess at it. Wow I could look at pictures of that all day! Thanks so much for sharing and again congrats! Bill

I think from memory on Ted's site that there may be full length M91RV rifles and Dragoon length M91RV rifles, which this would be I believe.

There are both I believe, but my memory may be wrong, we know for sure there are dragoon ones as we are looking at one

I checked again. I was thinking P Series rifles have a Dragoon that is much more rare. Ted only lists M91rv rifles as being Dragoons.

Yes, to my knowledge, there were no full-length infantry rifles that were converted for cavalry use by the Finns. Only the Dragoon and Cossack.

You have proof that either the Mauser or the conventional Finn sling would be right in the two sling parts on the rifle itself. Take your pick either is right in my eyes. Bill

I've only ever seen one m91rv listed for sale before, and it went for $800ish IIRC. That was over a year ago. Its condition was nothing compared to this one.
