A rather successful day at the gun show

Post by shmlnaaa »

I found a SIG M28 and a Finn'ed M91/30. The M91/30 isn't anything really special apart from being Finn'ed. The M28 is definitely the best find of the day. Not refinished post war, and with a matching buttplate. It's bolt is a mismatch (from a Tula M91/30), but it works fine and the trigger is still great.

I also picked up some Japanese occupation money, a cheap Mosin tool/cleaning kit, and a WW2 M1 Garand sling.

Productive day, more so than mine has been, nice rifles :)
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Aha that M28 rifle is actually in the original stock according to the info in another post. The numbers stamped on the butt plate match the serials last ones and there also appears to be and SYT stamp in the finger groove too. That means the stock is a reworked M91 one piece stock according to the info presented. That appears to be the case. How come I have none of them with all the ones I have? Am I looking in the wrong place or something? :chuckles: Congrats indeed a nice find! Bill

It's a vast conspiracy! You just didn't know until now.

Thanks, I'm pretty happy with my finds. It isn't that often that I find something Finnish other than an M91/30 or M91 in person.

Nice haul. I know you are downplaying the 91/30 because of the contrast of the m28, but believe it or not it's the 91/30 that is catching my eye here the most. Very nice.

Let me make a short, open, blanket comment. There are no good guns. There are no bad guns. Any gun in the hands of a bad man is a bad thing. Any gun in the hands of a descent person is no threat to anyone--- except bad people. -- Charleton Heston

Guns are not good, they are not evil. Save those descriptions for the people holding the firearm. -- Unknown

Ya gotta love a day like that! :vcool:
Nice finds! The M28 + the Finn'ed 91/30 are wonderful additions to your collection! Did you pick them up from the same seller?

No. I found them on my second round around the show at different tables. Says something for checking all of the nooks and crannies of a show.
