I have been trying different loads for my various Mosin Nagants. I have not tried them all yet. I was shooting yesterday and this load suprised me in it's accuracy and lighter recoil. I happen to have excess 4064 powder so thats what I am using presently.
bullet is Sierra 150 grn. jsp spitzer dia. .311
powder 4064 40 grns.
found this combo. is very accurate.
I will be also trying out same bullet with 38 grns. 4064
and 42 grns. 4064
I do have a chrono but wasn't using it yesterday.
We still have snow and ice on the ground here and has been very chilly out untill just recently, with warmer weather
I will be able to do more shooting and testing out different loads.
The first mentioned load here was a very good combo.
Rifle used was a Mosin Nagant 7.62x54 CCCP variant 91/30 year 1926 Hex receiver.
Take care Comrades, shoot straight !

I have tried reloader 15 and h380 so far. Load data for 54r seems very Conservative. From quick load and Gordon’s reloading tool. The pressures created with “max” charges listed are usually less than 45k psi. The 46gr 15 I have settled on barely reaches max 357 mag pressures as simulated. Using hornady 303 150gr bullets. Also have some sierras on the shelf.
Haven’t checked accuracy of H380, but it definitely has more velocity. H380 can match factory load velocity.

H380 was Keri's favorite powder. He said it was the most accurate he used.

H380 is good when the weather is not too cold, I had ignition issues with it in below freezing conditions.

I live in California. We don't get to "freezing" here very often! LOL
