Sniper rifle marks
Sniper rifle marks
Hi, I got 1936 rifle that looks like was converted from sniper rifle to regular one. It has 'СП' letters and fixed holes on the side of the receiver. I'm really interested in info about marks I found on it. I didn't see any of them before. Fist is letters 'ГИС' in rhombus. Second is to crossed hammers in circle . And last one is number 3 and looks like number 8 in rhombus. I also attached marks I found on stock. Maybe it can provide more info and can help as it happened last time. Thank you in advance.

hang-on..........the pros will be along in due course.......
Re: Sniper rifle marks
It is an ex sniper. Crossed hammer is a refurb/repair facility marking. Marks on stock are inspection marks. This link will provide all (almost all) information on the markings. There is also a section on sniper rifles. app.php/page/59

The Diamond mark is found on Russian exported firearms and is required by Russia.
To me, it's "almost" irrelevant as it is like and export marks later on. Not during manufacture, use, or during re-arsenal.

This is what it looked like when it was still a sniper.
