“Freedom is the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.” George Orwell, English novelist, essayist, and critic, 1903-1950
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Re: .25 Stevens
After doing some more looking, I've found folks shooting these with .27 (yellow) nail gun caps, and a #3 buckshot (.25) with no patch or a #4 buck .(24) with a patch. This is a rolling block we are talking, I wouldn't try it in a semi auto or pistol.

I'd try the pellets. They are light and would be fast.steelbuttplate wrote: ↑Mon Feb 14, 2022 10:28 amAfter doing some more looking, I've found folks shooting these with .27 (yellow) nail gun caps, and a #3 buckshot (.25) with no patch or a #4 buck .(24) with a patch. Re: .25 Stevens
The 43 grain pellets won't take the powder charge, too soft. I've got some.25 cal. 45 grain solid slugs ordered, they should work fine. The #3 .27 cal nail caps are plenty to push a bullet probably to .22 short speeds at least. I'm gonna try some # 4 later.steelbuttplate wrote: ↑Wed Feb 16, 2022 7:57 pmThanks Pardner, those 43 grain should sit right on the cap.millman wrote: ↑Tue Feb 15, 2022 7:39 pm I would think either of these would work.

Re: .25 Stevens
These .25 slugs work, but not tight in the bore, have to use a thin patch. Anyone know a source for .253 or .254 cast bullets ?steelbuttplate wrote: ↑Sun Apr 03, 2022 11:48 amThe 43 grain pellets won't take the powder charge, too soft.
