Hey everyone!

New poster here, have kinda been out of the Mosin Nagant communities for a while but I've been looking to get some more info on one of the rifles I've got in the closet. I picked this rifle up at a gun show a number of years ago for not much more than what a regular 91/30 was going for at the time, just looking to see what it might be worth and get any additional info on it! All I know per some quick research and Reddit posting is that it's a Sestroryetsk 91/38 haha.

How good does it shoot?

Sales I have seen for Sestroryetsk 91/38 over the last 10 years have varied widely.
One sold for $4,000 but I don't know if the seller ever got the money.
The lowest sold for $500 with others $850, and $1,700.
The Sestroryetsks seems to fetch the highest prices (omitting the 1 Remington and 1 Westinghouse) that I have seen with unknown prices but they would be the record holders.
My guess would be at auction, it would be worth at least $850 and possibly much more.

I have not been in that market and would have guessed a $500.00 floor price, but I have no reason to doubt Neals estimate. My ulcers flare up every time that I think of walking out of a pawn shop, about six years ago, on a Sestroryetsk M-91 for $125.00 because it was missing the front sight. I went back for it a few days later and of course, it was long gone. It is the ones you don't buy that hurt.

Very interesting stamps on the receiver, a Tula hammer and some Austrian capture stamps. That stock is the cleanest I have ever seen.

Shoots great, last I remember! Haven't shot her in probably 6+ years though. Cleaned it up, put it away and she's been sitting ever since

Interesting...what do you know about the Austrian capture stamps? Haven't heard of this before. But yeah the stock is gorgeous, that's what initially caught my eye when I bought it years ago.

There was a group of M91/38 that were released with stocks like that. I have one also.
They are thought to be a Czech M44 stock stock.

But his has a much better bluing job then my does.

What looks to be an AF right above the Tula hammer in a circle.

I recently sold a non-antique Izhevsk 91/38 for nearly $1k. That may be an outlier but Sestroryetsk examples tend to go for more than Izhevsk

I purchased an 1894 Sestroyetsk from another collector for mid 600’s February of last year (I think 650 plus 35 shipping but I can’t find an email with the amount to confirm). Mine does not have extremely clear markings but is better than a lot of them. It is the third 91/38 in on the left in the group pic.

I didn’t see the rest of the pics on imgur before my reply but yours is clearly a nicer specimen and would fetch way more.

$1,000 and up in this market we have now. Unreal what 91/30's and M 44's are bringing. A 440 spam can sold for $ 340 I was watching.

Wow, I have 6 cans of 440 round cans I paid $40 each for them. And I though I was crazy at the time! I wish I had bought more now.

That M91-38 is going to bring a premium being a Sestroryetsk. It is going to be really hard to replace that one if you get rid of it.

Antique Mosins sell for stupid money on Gunbroker. I wouldn't be surprised to see it get bids north of $1k on there.
