Does anyone know why my Mosin Nagant has a п on the barrel?

My mosin barrel has a п(17th letter of the Russian alphabet) on the barrel under the sight. I can't find any information on this.

There Is one like that, but there is also another one that is just the п with no circle around it.

That is just an inspectors mark. You will find many of them on your rifle. When it went through inspection, the inspectors would stamp his mark on it ... if it passed ; - )
