Number match but need a clean original stock

Post by Jim berg1 »

Good to see this site. I’d like to have opinions on replacing the stock that in the past was refinished. It’s a 1927 numbers match and I’d like to restore it to original Wood.

I've got no clue how to respond... 1927 what? Need to know what kind of rifle and pictures would be nice to have too. Sometimes stocks can be replaced, if available. Anymore, stocks are either not available or very expensive. Also, sometimes a "refinish" can be carefully knocked down with different grades of steel wool...

I will answer both the above posts. We are a preservation site and both the above violate those goals, enough said.
