Hi
Help needed please. I know very little on how to tell a genuine PU scope from a fake. This one is in great condition and has an orange tinted lens so shouts fake. I would really appreciate your feedback on this.

Do you think the orange lens would have been done in '66 ?

Thanks guys for that confirmation, it is nice to know that it is a genuine arsenal refinish. I was also wondering about the amber lens but also have a more general question regarding these scopes. Please excuse any mistakes in the question.

Were P.U. scopes manufactured in 1940 for use on the SVT 40 in 1940 or 1941 ?

Was the whole of 1940 just given over to the manufacture of the scopes ? and / or were they trialled on any other weapons using different types of mounts .

Regards
George

All 1940 and 1941 (and partially 1942) scopes originally were issued for the SVT-40 snipers. Your scope is still calibrated for the SVT-40 ballistics

Agree with Ratnik, if it was calibrated for the 91/30 it would have "CB" stamped on the dials. I believe the dead giveaway for identifying an SVT scope is the thicker barrel at the rear. later PUs have straight (same diameter) barrels...
