1954 dated Polish M-44 or 1948dated Russian M-44

Post by RMAC60 »

I'm going today to pick either a unissued mint condition Polish M-44 or a mint condition Russian M-44 dated 1948 ,both have mirror bright bores with very sharp grooves and lands for 500 dollars a piece. I was wondering which is better and is it worth the price

I would shop around. Although unissued Polish M44's are awful nice.

That's around the starting for an VG Polish carbine these days. That would be my pick.

Polish M-44's in this condition are going for up to $550. A 1948 Russian M-44, although most are very nice and could be unissued, are around $350.

THIS^^^

Plus my newish Polish M44 is one of the nicer/smoother functioning Mosins I have shot. Dare I say fit/finish/function rival my M39s??? At any rate if you could negotiate that Polish down even a little it could be a nice pickup.

I hope you get another shot at them. Given equal condition, I would take the Polish rifle as well. But I would also try to get a bargain on the '48, but it would need to be closer to $400.00.

Welcome to the forum, we know all about Mosinitus.

Get the Polish if you have another shot at them. He who hesitates is lost. I won't tell you what I paid for the Polish M44 I used to own, or who has it in his safe now....but we both got good deals.
