1932 VKT M27

Post by Cj556 »

I went to a local gun show about a month back, found a coupe average arisakas prices weren’t unreasonable but they didn’t do much for me. Also found a decent Long Branch No4 but price was a little stout at $575 so I passed. I left the show empty handed and stopped at a shop that specializes in collector arms that I had never been to. The first thing I noticed was an M27 front sight sticking out of the racks, I turned it over and hoped it was a VKT. Sure enough it was, it appears to be an arsenal refurb, the bolts matching and there is a repaired crack on the handguard but I’m quite happy with it. I have a 1933 and 1934 Tikka but this is the first VKT I’d seen in the wild.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Yes you were wise to stop in. And not blow your money at the gun show on something you know wasn't quite what you were looking for. This rifle looks closer to new. Congrats

Nice looking rifle. Is the stock post war?

I also have to ask since I see enough people do it what is the reason for blocking out the serial number? I'm just curious.

Nice M27,

capt14k, you can clearly see the serial is 2007 when you open up the image.
2007 is a later VKT as there were only 2150 made in 32. It is also wearing a m28/30 stock so likely has a post war refurbishment.

I must be blind because I can't see through the blacked out scribble.

I'm not so sure that is a M/28-30 stock per se. The post war that everyone calls a M/28-30 I am told was designed as a universal stock. M27, M28, M/28-30, and M39 will fit into them without an issue.

2007 is indeed the sn. I’m quite certain the stock is later than the gun
