I've seen a few with the bayonet lug, believe Martin 08 has posted some of them. I don't think their 7.62x54r anymore (rechambered/setback)?? Do your research before you fire it. Cool find, congrats.

What is it. Carbine? German conversion?

You can find Martin08's rifle in the showcase and get a huge amount of good info on this. Just the bolt alone is probably worth 200 bucks or more. That stock is very nice too. In the old car business this is what some would consider a real barn find. Dang you must have been wearing that gold horse shoe around your neck. This is seriously a collector piece of substantial value.

That's a really nice find. I couldn't find it in me to talk somebody down to $50 on a $1,000+ rifle. My heart would pound out of my chest if I found one for $75. :chuckles: The article on Polish conversions from C&Rsenal was very informative

I’m evil like that, I will say I knew it was worth more but not that much. And I tried for $40 :)

They are pricey (to me). I haven't been lucky enough to stumble upon one cheap yet (or any other WW1 conversion).

“Freedom is the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.” George Orwell, English novelist, essayist, and critic, 1903-1950

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

I went back to the sale sat and the seller told me someone came back for it and was disappointed it was gone because he wanted to sporterize it. Because you know they sell everything for them guns :)

Decidedly has chamber setback so more than likely has caliber change to it. What is overall length and give us a picture of the overall rifle from like the side if you will. A picture of the sling swivel under the butt stock would be nice too. Bolt markings? Need to know Bubba didn't already get at it too. For the price you stole it! Congrats! Bill :D

Dang Bill. You swallowed a genius pill didn't you? It has already been shown to have been a Polish conversion and the barrel has a small 7.92 stamp

Definitely a German field conversion. I have a M1892 Berthier carbine that got the same conversion in WWII.
