Serial number prefix's wanted

Post by BuckeyeSgt »

I'm just curious as to how many prefix's we can come up with, 91/30's, M38's M44's etc? Only RUSSIAN models. If you need help with the Russian letters let me know.

Do you just want a list of prefixes, not the whole serial number? And do you want to know the year/model for the prefixes?

Good question. How about the prefix, model, year and factory. I think the serial numbers all stay below 9999 and I know some people don't like to show that. I'm just curious to see if there is some trend. I know it's a long shot but just curious.

I am new to mn so not sure what a prefix is but my 1934 Izhevsk 91-30 has many marks on receiver 1.a funny looking circled N to left of crest 2.large inverted V with tang in center(sort of arrow head looking)directly above hex 3. small triangle with a 6 above that under the serial #4. another N in a small square on the right side middle of receiver4. another upsidedown u in a small pentagon below that 5. a K in a circle then two more smaller circles with o in each 6. far left front of receiver down low has a small a next to a small half circle with an unidentifiable stamp s like more stamps on trigger housing a square with a 9 another small v with strange tool looking marks that could be stamps. Hope all this info is of some help Serial # starts with 361. Thanks Jolly Green Chopper

Here's my stuff; I've translated the Cyrillic:

M38, 1944, Izhevsk: KP
M44, 1944, Izhevsk: PC
M44, 1944, Izhevsk: BY
M91/30, 1940, Tula: AD

My other two guns, both M91/30s with hex receivers, one 1936 Tula and one 1921 Izhevsk, have no prefix.

http://www.apronus.com/internet/ruskey.htm, use this keyboard, type in your suffix, copy and paste to your post. It's all I did, hope it helps.

I will get to this, but not today. A great idea and am glad to see some one take this up. Maybe the mods could make this a sticky?
