What do you collect?

JYD's collection of firearms got me to thinking...
What is in your collection of milsurp firearms?
I'm going to be branching out from the narrow focus of my current collection, and I'm at odds about which path to take.
Accessability and affordability are key factors for the next purchases.
I have or will take possession of shortly:
91/30 MO double date 1930/52
91/30 1931 counterbored
1945 AG42B
1941 Tula SVT-40 6 port
1951 Tula SKS
Lee Enfield mk3 303

Non-milsurp
325wsm based on Mauser 98 dou '44
And some other regular guns.

I want:
K31 - this is next one the list then the rest
Yugoslavian M48
PU Sniper
Any suggestions for US firearms?
Maybe Japanese?
Have I more or less covered RUSSIAN firearms except for the rare ones?

I collect Old guns, primarily Mosins of any flavor, with a nice sprinkling of Mausers of several nations, and old revolvers with a few old semi-autos and old binoculars. I consider anything that is older than my calluses.

I collect what i like. Basically if i like the price, and it talks to me, i get it.

The other year I decide to concentrate on M27s and am trying to get one of each but that's not my only focus.

I just like old battle rifles and 1911's. I maily collect the Enfield, Garand, Mauser, Mosin, Arisaka, and 03A3 with most of my focus on WW2 era arms. I don't go past WW1 with my collection although I would like to have a US Krag one of these days.

Like others have said, basically anything that speaks to me. Was really big into Lee Enfield's of any variate, until I gotten bitten by the evil black rifle disease and could/would only build ARs. Now that I've been cured of that, it's mainly Mosin Nagants carbines, with one lone Tula M91/30. But basically any military surplus rifles I can get my hands on for a relatively decent price that won't break the bank.

I'm in awe of JYD.
Holy crap you could shoot a different gun for each day of the year! I know what I like, maybe that's how the collecting game is played. I certainly don't want safe Queens or wall hangers so it better go bang - loudly!
There are some nice guns up here in the land of monopoly money and beavers but nothing like what's available in the United States of God Bless America.

I have just been at it for a long time, there were occasions in the 80's and 90's were I was leaving flea markets with 20+ rifles at a time. It was all available and cheap back then, and I took full advantage.

Even though I am not a C&R holder, I have collected a lot of rifles and pistols in recent years including the following:

- Ten Mosin Nagant rifles including eight M91/30s, a M38 and a M44; all refurbs
- Various milsurp rifles including M1 Garand, M1 Carbine, Type 99 Jap, couple of Mausers and four Lee-Enfields
- Couple of black rifles; Colt AR/M4 and Saiga (Arsenal, Inc.) SGL 21-61 (AK clone in 7.62x39)
- A small collection of S&W revolvers; Models 10, 15, 24, 31, 36, 65, and 638
- Two M1895 Nagant revolvers (both Tula)
- Chinese Type 56 SKS (Norinco import)
- Cold War semi-auto pistols; CZ-52, CZ-70, CZ-82, CZ-83, TTC Polish Tokarev, Bulgarian Makarov
- Two Russian commercial Makarovs (IJ-70)
- German 9x19 Luger P08 (Russian capture)
- Walther PP, P99, and P22
- Couple of Glocks (19 and 42)
- Swiss AT-84S 9x19 (CZ-75 clone by ITM Solothurn)

At this point I am out of room to store and I am getting too old so I think I am done collecting.

As firearms go, any military surplus service rifle or related gear. The older or stranger the item, the more I'm interested. Budget is tight right now but when my folks are gone, I'll be able to acquire some investment grade pieces.

Ain't that the truth. I just bought 20 early style M16A1 right side NOS triangular hand gards for $2.49 ea....yes right side only. The left side are a lot harder to find and lot more expensive. These were new and I paid $64 for all 20 delivered. Why? I couldn't pass them up at that price. One of these days someone will find a stash of left side NOS gards and I'll finish the sets out. Than in 20 years when everyone decides making retro M16s is the thing I'll be sitting pretty, lol. Nah!!! I probably won't even be here, lol. I just love mil-surp stuff and they were only $2.49 each. Can't argue with that logic right?

2 x M91/30
2x Finn M39
1904 M91
Swiss K31
Swiss M1911 (1913)
1898 Krag (1900)
'03 Springfield (1918)
H&R Reising M65
WASR-10 AK
Beretta 92s
Various new guns

My other main collection is fountain pens. I've got at least 100 fountain pens. Mainly pens made by Parker and Sheaffer from the 1930's through 1950's. But I've got a few Waterman, Conklin, and Wahl-Eversharp pens as well. I haven't been actively collecting pens in 3 or 4 years now.

One new pen I've kept is a Pelikan M805 Anthracite Stresemann. This is the pen I use every day and it really is glorious!

Here is a picture of some of my favorite black and gold pens. The pen second from the right is a Waterman 752 I found with my initials (PLM) engraved in the wide 14k band. This pen has solid 14k nib, band, lever, and clip. A nice upgrade on the standard Waterman 52.
