Was shooting today and came across this at Williams Gun Sight. It's an 1895 Mauser 7X57 caliber and bore looks to be near mint. The Bolt is full of old grease and Cosomoline so I'll have that to clean up but the rifle is in really good shape. I paid down so I'll pick it up later this summer. I was shooting my C Sharps at 100 yards with a 405 grain cast bullet, here's a target These 64+ year old eyes are having trouble picking up at black dot at 100 yards, not too bad though.

These small rings are nice Mauser's, I have had one since the 80's. Only problem with it is the lack of affordable surplus 7mm. Still using my lead? What did I sell you, the radiological 30/70 or the wheelweight 90/10?

Central and South American Mausers are some of my favorites. You get German or Belgian quality Mausers without paying the German Mauser Premium and really cool crests.

You will like the 7mm Chilean. I've tried a lot of surplus but most of it doesn't go bang. I can, at least, pull and recover the bullets. Cases seem to all be Berdan primed so they are useless to me. I think reloading is the best option for these 7mm rifles. There isn't a lot of brass out there though and what is, is fairly expensive. Probably the best option is to shoot and then reload PPU which is available.

Hey John. Nice pickup with the Chilean. Great shooting as well. I haven't been up to Williams since they added the indoor range. I need to make a trip and stock up on a few things.
