Stock stamp on butt. First for me....

Stock stamp on butt. First for me....

Got a couple few mosins. First time I ever found anything on the butt of the stock. Cool.

What yr., etc. is it? Isn't that a SCW mark in some cases?

It is a nice stamp whatever it means. Notice also the screw hole has been filled with a dowel and a new screw hole tapped.

Interesting. Never seen that stamp before. I love seeing their stock repairs. They were some good craftsman.

I'll take a few this weekend but the rest of the rifle is pretty much unremarkable. :)

I always check under the butt plates for any goodies stamped or painted on the wood. Most of the time there is nothing with the exception of T-53's, 91/59's and 91/38's. It seems that the imperial rifles, many times, had the date stamped there like, "915r". I see this on a few of the Finn two piece and the Finn M2x stocks as well. Part of the fun of cleaning them - never know what goodies you will find.
