This sniper still has the greasy paper on the knobs and is quite greasy all over. Very dark finish. Sorry the pics are a little shakey... What do you guys think?

This was from EDIT: CAI? It looks like a nice rifle, probably a typical refurb. Wait for an expert.

Im not familiar with these. Can anyone give me a little more history? The only thing that is out of sorts is that the scope number has been scrubbed from what I can see. If you need better pics let me know. My cell phone takes great pictures of everything but mosins... :facepalm2:

The scope number on the rifle or the scope? Where it was originally matched?
Mine has a low, flat spot there as well, left hand forward on the chamber.

Mine's a Royal Tiger, based on various reports that's where the original scope serial was. Original mount, original scope, original sniper mosin. Just refurbed, or repaired. Old scope serial was ground off, and to compensate the rifle's SN and new scope SN were electro penciled on the scope mount. So it's a "real" sniper. Scope/mount assemblies were swapped (when necessary) just like bolts, floorplates, buttplates, and stocks.

Of course, I'm no expert. Anybody else care to chime in?

Yours and mine have the same attributes. I havent seen any with the scrubbed scope numbers like ours but Im not expert either by any means...

Mine is also still sticky with cosmoline. I bought mine from an online auction in Michigan. The auction house was TERRIBLE. They didnt ship when they said they did, didnt send me tracking numbers after begging and didnt reply to emails or phone calls. Glad its finally here and the ordeal is over. I got it for $450 plus online premium of 20% and then $34 shipping. I am happy with it even though I sweated for 2+ weeks waiting to see what it was. The pics showed most of the important parts but there was just enough unseen parts to make me worry. I got auction fever though and went to the 450 before I caught myself and stopped. The others also stopped though so I got it. I think I'll shoot it this weekend after a throughout cleaning of course.

Better pics of the barrel shank where the scope numbers where to be are needed. CAI did sell some legit snipers but the vast majority where made up by them.

Took it to the range today and sighted it in. Range was crowded and busy. Shoots pretty good. I need to work on it a little bit. Was getting really hot though. Warm day here today.

I've read a few dozen posts here that the majority of the early importer marked like mine that were made up by them had the [SA] mark on them. Mine doesnt have that mark...I've also read here that it is not uncommon for the scope number to be scrubbed. Please Miller Tyme, Im not challenging your post, just trying to clarify. I value and appreciate your input.

Wait, wasn't CAI the one that faked the Finn snipers?

Anyway, shoots good, really good.

Scope mount pin holes don't look freshly drilled, no obvious white anywhere, has the typical refurb symptoms ... Yeah, I'm thinking it's legit.

Looks to me like a scope number was scrubbed from the barrel. It could be legit, but older CAI snipers give me the heebie jeebies when I see occasionally see them at shows. Too many prior fakes from them and current legit offerings from others along with my limited experience in handling many non-finn fake snipers in person etc turns me off from them.
