Just my Mosin and a spam can

Just thought I'd share a picture of my Mosin. It's a 1942 Izhevsk with all matching numbers. Seems more accurate than me so far. I posted here a while back when I bought it since it was having the problem where the bolt needed to be slammed shut. A few people gave me some tips (thanks!), and I ended up buying a new extractor and doing some light sanding on the bolt face, and now it's super smooth! Also just picked up a spam can of Bulgarian from Usacsales for about $100 shipped.

After one takes the top off the spam can, how does one one reseal the can?

Some one should produce a made to size plastic cover that snaps on to reseal the can. Water tight, shake proof, spill proof, no more sudden upsets where you have half a can of ammo suddenly spread out in the interior of your vehicle or pickup bed.

Also perfect for storing odds & ends in a sealable environment. Recycle those spam cans. Even store Spam in those spam cans.

John

Seriously. Would there be a market?

I move mine to US 30 CAL and 50 CAL ammo cans.

I cut the hole in the bottom and reseal it with duct tape, because half the vendor leave out the opener..Not real sure all the ammo spam cans are the exact same size...When almost used up it goes to US ammo cans..

And when the duct tape looses it's adhesive ability. What? more duct tape? Plastic tops !!! (see my new thread).

Thanks, John

Perhaps make it into a lunch box to carry to work.

Thanks specifically to Junk Yard Dog, soylentblue, and qz2026, who were the ones who helped me out with my problem a while ago.

Thanks all! Yup, just this one will be enough for me for now, and it will be staying original :)

I also use the 50CAL cans for storage after opening. They'll hold an entire spam can with a little space left over.

Problem with the plastic cover is that the cans are so bent out of shape by the time your wrestle them open that the tops might not work very well... :b sad:

What ? I have to develop an easy opening, handy dandy, U.S.A. compliant, eco friendly, non polluting, non green house gas emitting, non fracking alternative to the present opening tool that is now available from eastern block nations for FREE !!!!????.

Is this capitalism or communism ?

 They don't seal back up. And, be careful, that lid can cut you pretty bad if you're not careful. I think for as long as we leave the ammo open, it's not going to degrade. If you are worried get a 30.06 or .50 cal ammo can or put your ammo in a plastic container with lid.

BTW, very nice looking rifle
