My Retirement Gift

I work full time for the Air National Guard and I'm retiring next month after 38 years with the Air Force and the Guard. Since one of my troops knows I like Mosins he was thoughtful enough to guide my flight into getting me something more interesting than the usual retirement fare. A 1956 Wz48 is pretty interesting isn't it? It wandered into a local gun shop where his brother is a senior trader and he had asked him to keep an eye out for something different. The stock has a little wear but the metal and bore are in great shape.

Great gift John, you will love it, 22 trainers may be the next thing I collect.

Better than a gold watch, I think.

Congratulations and thank you for your service! Glad to see someone else on the site who gave long years of faithful service to our Air Force and the nation. You certainly received a nice retirement gift. Nice of your guys to come up with the idea.

Beats the hell out of a gold watch, (unless it's a Rolex, that'd buy a lot of Mosins!) and a fun one to boot. You got some good AIrmen in your unit! 8-)

Congrats on a great retirement gift and a great big thank you for your service to our country. I never served but have always been partial to the Air Force since my dad was a B24/B25 mechanic/crew chief and his brother gave his life over Germany as waist gunner on a B17.
