Hard water fishing.

Post by Sonny »

Got out today for the first ice fishing of the season and had fun.
Ice is a good solid 4 inches and that's plenty to walk on but I need 12-14 inches before I drive on..lol
Anyways got my limit of 5 rainbows, not big ones but good pansize ones. :D

A forage minnow jig  tipped with kernel corn was the ticket today..

It's already been a long winter and we have only just started. Nice fish, 4" of ice? OK, a couple of feet thick and maybe I think about it.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.
Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft.

Cool, fresh frozen trout. I was going to do some drag racing on the ice once. Thank God I sobered up in time.

lol...I'm guessing you guys don't watch Ice Road Truckers.. :D

4 inches of clear ice will easily hold you.But I must admit I once walked a D8 Cat across 34 inches and that freaked me out a bit.

In the end all was good..

Have fun on the ice but play safe everyone.. :D
