Nice, not every 1943 Izhevsk had the rough wartime finish, they may not have had to clean it.

I assume it was cleaned off because of the polishing marks on the receiver. The top of the receiver has a somewhat of a flat spot. Hard to see but you can feel it. The barrel wasn't polished because I can see the machining marks.

I too am still looking for my firth 91/59. That bolt knob reminds me of the baby moons I once had on a 56 ply. savoy.

My first C&R rifle was a 91/59. I did not really know what it was. Congratulations... A great pick up. Nice pictures ... Thanks

With the cold winter I haven't been shooting as much but still keep finding rifles. I now have a "few" I haven't shot and need to get them to the range.
I was looking at the 91/59 history and it looks like no one is sure of what these really are and who did them.

That's a beautiful carbine!
Mine is built on a 1937 Tula receiver. I'll NEVER part with it. (While I'm alive, anyway!) I posted pics on the old forum, I should do the same here.
Nice find!
