When adjusted for inflation, $100 spent in 1990 equates to $190 today. $100 spen in 2000 equates to $140 today.

The price/value hasn't really changed, your dollars are simply worth less...

In 1990 we were paying $45, sometimes even less for Mosins, Finn Mosins. In 2000 a Soviet refurb was $45-$50. In 1990 $100 would buy you three Enfield No1's if you saw the three for $100 sale. Price's have changed a great deal over the last 25 years, I was there the entire time buying guns, I well remember it.

It's hardly about price now. It's about availability.

Yes, availability, or lack of, the factory's making all of what we collect went cold long ago, however big the pile seems when they first come in it must be remembered that there will be no more resupply behind it. If we are going back to the past we are going back to the USA of the mid 70's, after Vietnam, after Nixon, yes gas shortage, economic stagnation, Disco, but trust me, it was a better place than today. Nobody was flying planes into buildings, kids could still be unsupervised in most places, The USSR was keeping track of their nuclear weapons and the third world didn't have any yet, and compared to the current occupant of the white house Jimmy Carter never looked so f***in good.

Be that as it may, they aren't biting even at $140.

I have one for sale, and I have fun watching people sign up to watch the auction. Strangely enough, I had one bid on it, but the person bid on a similar Mosin the day prior, one that was 40 dollars more. I guess the sling was worth the extra 40.

We do not restore here, we repair, and conserve/preserve.

Snow, cold, ice, broken equipment, everybody dropping dead here, this is now officially the winter from hell worse than 2011. Nothing but clearing snow, wakes and funerals one after the other, constant cold that has me dressed like the Pillsbury fuckin doughboy, been on my ass because of the ice three times, and ripped the hem on the pants of my good suit. May 1987, flea market Sunday, perfect weather, I am standing in front of a table loaded with guns, my pockets full of cash, I want to go back to that moment, and I want to do it right now.

I'd love to go back to 1990, my first year of college. Instead of blowing my money on booze and floozies I'd have one hell of a milsurp collection! I'd go back in a heartbeat!!!

My first Mauser Kar98 was $75. My first M1 carbine was $125. If I could have found them, or knew where to look, I would have picked up an M1 for less than $100. Would have, could have.

"Cheaper than dirt" sells them for $90 and for 10 more dollars they will hand pick a nicer one for you. You can't actually inspect it yourselfthough. But I got my first one from there and it's a beauty. I've got pics of it in my gallery.
