man this place is about the same as a hole in the pocket of my favorite pants... I love 'em but the money just keeps falling out. All the nice/rare/special rifles I keep seeing make me want another myself. I'm heading to the alstead gun shop, in NH, tomorrow, they had a mosin or two last time was there, but that was before I knew too much about them. If I don't buy em up I'll at least report my findings. I've got my ear to the ground for more p2p sales as well.

Actually my mom won't let me take the spencer home yet, apperently it gets to live with her, the the buffalo robes and the moccasins etc. I did manage to get the model 1894 and the old army back to my house though.... funny that my mom is the real afficiando in the family, she has a whole close full of civil war b.p riflesnot to mentions the revolvers that her grandfathers/great uncles brought to California and back....

You haven't shot it yet? And you are gonna shoot hogs? Well be prepared for it to shoot high by about 6" and maybe to the left about 2" or more. Some shoot right on though. Good luck with the bacon hunting.

You are hunting dangerous game with an untested weapon? Holy shit, I don't know if that indicates suicidal tendencies or brass balls! Good luck, and God bless. Pigs are sneaky, and mean, also smart, almost problem solving smart,. I would hunt them with my lever action 45/70 Marlin 1895, and have a good friend within a few feet of me carrying a 12 gauge loaded with OOO buck. I don't trust pigs, the dam things will kill you and then eat you.

That's why you're supposed to carry a fairly big sidearm too. I have a 44.mag setup for hogs. Marlin 1894 and Ruger Redhawk. Bone up on your tree climbing skills too. If you walk up on them and don't see them until they're close they "will" charge and you will not outrun them. I have 5 pigs here at the moment but I've slaughtered hundreds and I'll tell you from the smallest to the largest those suckers can run. Almost as fast as a dog. We have a lot of them here in the bayous too and most bowhunters that hunt there carry a sidearm. It's against hunting regs but has been challenged in court and overturned. With alligators and wild hogs in the same area's that people hunt while using non firearm methods it's been deemed that you still need adaquate protection and to fine someone for what they might be doing is against logic.
You really should get to know that firearm before hunting with it especially dangerous game which a hog is. Hell even deer are dangerous if you corner them. One killed three of my buddy's bloodhounds last year and almost a 4th.
