Kar. 88 1893 Erfurt: how to load

I purchased one of these today and I wanted to know if it was intended to have a magazine or if i am loading it wrong.

If it's anything like the GEW 88 and if it has the guides on top of the receiver it will take a stripper clip if not then it will take a Mannlicher En-block style clip. Here's a picture of my 1890 Danzig GEW 88, you can just see the stripper clip guides on the bottom part of the picture.

Don't think any of these were converted to stripper clips. It will require an enbloc clip.

MOST! of these were converted to take stripper clips and spitzer ammo. The rifle in the picture is a Gew88-05.

As to Waleonstrange's rifle, he would need to either do a little research to figure out exactly what he has or post pictures of the receiver so we could tell him what he has.

I was responding to the OP's question regarding the KAR 88 - not the Gew88.
