Acquired this one recently locally. It is a 1939 147 made by J.P. Sauer. All matching. All original markings and numbers present except the bolt handle serial was removed and stamped with new Norwegian serial, and butt plate and receiver original serial was crossed out and Norwegian serial added. A in Circle is Norwegian Inspector Mark. 7.62 is for .30-06 conversion which Norway converted all their K98k to .30-06, except for Marine issued Rifles, because we gave them an unlimited supply of ammo.

The K98 or any large ring mauser would have no difficulty with the .30-06 pressures, what I wonder is what did they do to the barrel? Line it or replace it? The 8mm Mauser round uses the larger diameter .323 bullet. Nice looking rifle.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.
Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft.

I have one. Deadly accurate using some nice US surplus.
GOOD RIDDANCE LGR!! If there isn't a gun range in heaven, then I'm going to hell.
Germans who wish to use firearms should join the SS or the SA - ordinary citizens don't need guns, as their having guns doesn't serve the State. Heinrich Himmler

I've looked at a couple Israelis, but I want a FN with the crest on it. Saw one but the crest was well worn.

The Israelis seem to be rising in price as well
Mausers are strange. The German Matching K98k have seen a large drop in price. The Contract Mausers have increased in price. The RC Mausers increased then dropped again. I stopped trying to figure them out and just buy what I like when the price seems right.
Yes. The Minty Argentine 1909s seem to have taken a dip as well. Seen two this year for 500ish. Picked one up for under 500 otd. Hoping for an unmessed with Gew98m and K98 in 2017

I agree. I got a matching 1909 for under $500 too. A friend of mine grabbed a Gew98 matching and original with duffle cut for under $500 just recently as well. I'm not familiar with the m designation. What is that?
