Looks like a nice VKT with an easy to remember serial number, it should shoot well, all of mine do.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Re: New to me M39
In honor of my Finnish shooters I went out in the COLDDDDDDDDDD weather and dialed her in. Both receiver bolts were loose and the front stock band was loose as well.
After tightening them up and letting it settle back into the stock she was very impressive at 100 yards.
My final group on one 1 inch by 3/4 inch and the other one just at 1 1/2 square. Not bad for Russian surplus ammo. (It was the silver tip.)
I also had to center the front sight...and man I love the way the adjust and lock down, what a great design!

I think you call that one a keeper I don't remember seeing one before with ##### over an old number. Check the tang date when you take it down.

Some good shooting, especially on a cold day! Congrats on a fine shooter!

I like the "been there and done it" look. This is a really nice looking m39.

Very nice, congrats. You might want to play with the tightness of the front barrel band a bit. All of my M39's shoot much tighter groups with the screw on that front band backed off a bit.

Thanks for the tip!

What he said! Oh and I have seen and own guns with old serials and Civil Guard numbers lined out with #'s, 0's, /'s, and any number of other stamps they have grabbed to do it with.
