Educate me. Is that an importer or just a really really bad spelling?

My Saiga shotgun is an Izhmash and built in 2012.

Right up in the "information pages"....... app.php/page/37

"Ishevsk is a city in Russia"

"In the Soviet Union, Ishevsk was capital of the usmurtish ASSR. Up to today Ishevsk held different factories for the production of military , sport and hunting weapons. The successor of the former Ishevsk weapon manufacturer is today's Izhmash company."

Don't you suspect that the Russians though Izmash was easier for us to remember than Izhevsk?

In case we are talking about rifles produced since middle of 1920's, "Izhmash" can also be used, and possibly it is even more correct than "Izhevsk" - rifles were produced not by city (Izhevsk), but by a certain factory. Izmash is abbreviation from "Izhevsk Machinebuilding factory" (Ижевский Машиностроительный завод), which was actual manufacturer of rifles. In 1930's factory also had code name - number #180, since 1939 - #74 NKV, which was used during all wartime years. All wartime documents related to production used numeric name of factory.
