Re-Snipering a Ex-Sniper rifle ---- Please read

Post by Darryl »

Re-Snipering ... This mistake is made often here. But if you read the rules, you will figure out what is meant by "Preservation" as in our title at the top of each page. Re-snipering an "ex-sniper is altering the rifle from how it came out of the arsenals and sold to the public. Unless you are a Russian arsenal, it is looked down on by most collectors and the value of the rifle will fall after it is done. Yes, there are ways to tell if it is a "re-snipered" rifle (or fake).

"some" of our rules for these forums:
Do not ask how to alter a military surplus firearm here. (re-snipering is an "alteration" to the rifle by a "non-arsenal")
Do not post altered military surplus firearms on the forums. (re-snipering is an "alteration" to the rifle by a "non-arsenal")
If you are thinking of altering a military surplus rifle, we don't want to hear about it here. It may be your rifle to do as you wish to it, but this is our house and we don't want them posted here.
No posting of reproduction snipers or re-snipered ex-snipers. Discussions on reproductions sniper almost always start an argument and negative discussions. We have chosen to cut off discussion of these rifles.

This was done to German Mausers here in the US, and those collecting sniper Mausers can tell if it has been done. Most of us can not and get "taken" and screwed. So, ask an expert in what ever field you are collecting in BEFORE you buy. Or you take a "big" chance you will get screwed and buy a fake.
