1942 Finn M91 and her friend M24 Lotta
I went to the OGCA, (Ohio Gun Collectors Assn.), meeting today to see my Finn connection. Having bought several M27's during the year I wanted something different, I found them. Last night Miller Tyme informed me that my connection had some interesting M91's, he was right. He had six Finn M91's on his table along with a few M27's. We talked and danced around prices and I came home with two, a 1924 “B” barrel M91 and an M24 with a Bholer-Stahl German barrel. It was dark by the time I got home so I couldn't get good pictures. I did take a few teasers just to get your attention and I will get a good set as soon as I can get some daylight to work with.
The 1924 “B” barreled M91 has matching numbers on the barrel and a Finn matched bolt. These had barrel blanks purchased from Belgium and assembled post war. It is built on a round receiver of unknown date and has a “D” stamp as well as an [SA] stamp.
The M24 has a German Bohler-Stahl made barrel and a hex receiver of unknown date. The numbers match on the barrel, bolt and butt plate. These were made sometime from 1924 and 1928 and the financing for these came from the ladies of the Civil Guard and have the nickname of “Lotta's rifle”. They made 26,000 to 27,000 of these rifles, my other M24 was made 18,188 later than this one. The only stamping on this rifle besides the Civil Guard numbers is the Finnish Civil Guard crest an “S” toped with three Fir sprigs in a shield. Both rifles have excellent bores. Enjoy these pictures, better ones and more information when I take them down to see what other secrets they hold below the wood line.

Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Nice snags Chuck, I am very happy that B-Barrel went to a good home as they are a rare bird indeed.

Two exceptional rifles indeed!

You kept writing 1924 B barrel but I see indeed it is a 1942 B barrel as it should be. Very nice Congrats! Bill

Very nice pick ups!!!! Those are both great rifles. I'm also glad to see your connection is up and around!
Trying to schedule a visit to see him at his new residence over Christmas as I'll be in town with my family.
I look forward to seeing more pictures!

These "bad" pictures leave me in a state of shock! 2 fabulous rifles that I have been dreaming about. I would be so stoked to find a round receiver M91 of any date and the same goes for just about any M24 also. Well played maestro!

Great finds. The round receiver B Barrel is a rare bird indeed. It is only the 6th B Barrel M91 I have seen built on a round receiver. Serials of them all are below:
34291
34292
45810
46125
46553
47497
There are also a handful of round receiver B Barrel M39's.

I'm with Miller here. Very nice rifle and I would have got it if I had seen it and I wasn't buying something else. Very nice...
