M39 From Alden received

Hello,

I received my M39 from Alden, and it is an absolutely beautiful rifle.
I can't wait to get to the range, unfortunately work has been getting in the way. I hate when that happens.

I'm new here, and I'm learning how to attach photos. The pics are great, however, they don't do the rifle justice. Seeing it in person is far better. I hope to have a range update soon.

Thank you Alden! I love this M39!

Take care,

Gary

Welcome! :D

That's a good looking rifle. I hope that you get the time to take it to the range (though I know how that goes).

When you say you got your rifle from Alden, how many people know what you are talking about? A few pehaps. You can do Alden a favor as he is a new advertiser here. I used to do business with a guy who would say "tell em where you got it" as you went out the door. So yeah to all those inquiring minds Alden is THE MOSIN CRATE.

 Great looking m39! The weekend is almost here so hopefully you won't have to wait too long to put some rounds down range with it!

Thank you all for the replies.
You're right Bunky, I assumed many people knew about Alden. Judging from the quality of these rifles, i will buy from the Mosin Crate for now on. It's a good thing to view pics of the rifles I would like to get, plus dealing with Alden was a pleasure.

A quick question. I have some corrosive surplus ammo for the M39, but I bought some steel cased Tula 7.62x54r from Bass Pro today. Has anyone shot this in their Mosins? Is there anything I should be concerned about using this Tula ammo?

Thank you all once again! I'm very happy to be a member of the Mosin family, and I can envision a few more I may add to my collection.
I need to buy a bigger safe!

Have a great evening.

Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Nice catch. Next time take your pictures outside in normal sunlight. They love to be photographed in natural light.

Glad you are happy with your new rifle and Alden's action in getting it to you. Understand you want to get to the range and try it out but I caution you to take the rifle completely apart and clean and check it for safety before you head right to the range with it. Many of these old rifles require care and attention before they are shot for safeties sake and preservation of yours and other bodies at the range. Bill

Thank you Bill. I appreciate the information.
I took the rifle completely apart. I soaked all metal parts in mineral spirits, and thoroughly cleaned the bore with a solution of water & Ballistol, followed by Hoppes #9, followed by a light coat of oil. All parts were scrubbed clean and lightly oiled.
I think I'm ready to go. I'm hoping to find some time today.
I'll report back when I do.

Take care and please keep the pointers coming. I'm here to learn

Take care,

Gary

Also, I forgot to add, I check the headspace and it passed all tests.
