M44 or T53. If you miss with the bullet, they come with a pig sticker on the end!

Yes, I shoot almost all of them.

Not all collectors are in shootable condition and not all shooters are collectable.

I try to shoot all of mine but there are some I just haven't gotten around to shooting yet.

Hello, If the rifle is (safe) to shoot, Why not??? Sounds like, your in need of an inexpensive rifle ..("CHEAP" means piece of crap; in my vocabulary). The M44 would be a good choice; like Jim said, if your going though thick brush. Yet, the pig sticker could be a "snag point", in the brush. Hell, if your in a stand or a blind; a M91 would work. But, yes, the Mosin will have the "drop power" for a pig.
Oh, welcome to the site. Looks like your first day...

Jim's idea of a M44 or T53 sounds good to me. Inexpensive compact shooters. To your question " Are collectable rifles shootable? "

Yes, they are.. Picture of my K98 and a quarter I holed. Yes, only 50 yds but that's as far as I can see..

Any of the Mosin Nagant models are more than enough gun. You will need a good sidearm of .357 or better also, trust me.

Yeah, there's a reason that boar spears had a cross-guard below the spear head.

Man, I don't know if I'd go hog hunting with a bolt action. A Mosin has enough "umph" to get the job done, but pigs are FAST and are seldom alone. Wounding one a boar could put you in the cross hairs so you had better be good at making quick follow upshot or shots. As mentioned, you should pack a pistol or have another shooter with you, but I'd personally want a semi auto rifle for pig hunting.

Down here most people hunt from a stand. It is nice to have that big bore handgun as a backup though.

Just don't let it knock you out of the stand with the recoil!
