Most likely an early DCM sale gun. But this Saginaw still retains all of its original finish and parts, excepting the rear sight and early Underwood stock.
Don't usually find them as complete as this. Enjoy, and thanks for looking.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.
Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft.

I've been working someone locally for two years to sell me there Saginaw. Some day I hope he's ready to sell. Every 6 months I throw out a reminder that I'm still interested.

That is a nice M1 carbine. Mine is a Saginaw also, but it is one of the CMP returns from Italy. It looks like it has been rebuilt and has the bayonet lug on it.
That is just beautiful. I have fired a 30 carbine exactly 1 time. In a group of guys I was in once I spoke too late and said I wanted to shoot it and he handed me his last round to try it out. I loved it.
Actually the ammo is not as expensive as out seems as this caliber is sold in 50 round boxes. It is the rifles that are seeking expensive to me. Should have bought one years ago. :(
