Local auction - several MNs
Local auction - several MNs
Near Denver, CO - I did not attend; monitored on line. Apparently auction was to close out inventory from a local gun store. Also add in somewhere between estimated $30 to maybe $60 for fees: auction co. fees at 11% cash or 13% CC, background check $25, and sales tax, 7.9%. Other former military: "Craig" (Krag) with cut off stock (or could have been a carbine?), M95 Chile, w/ cut off stock, and K98 P. FAMAGE (appeared to be Columbian), sporter stock and replaced barrel 7x57.

The first four were Molot sniper rifles, I took lot 101 and I'm now concerned about the Molot Sniper in general but for 375 plus fees and shipping I think I have 450 in it, I'll live with it or sell it after I see and shoot it.

Re: Local auction - several MNs
Most of these auction houses charge upwards of $50 to ship so everyone that got one got it for around $500. Not a killer deal but that's about as cheap as they've ever been sold for, so certainly a decent price. ,
What gets me is why do people spend so much money for ammo at these auctions? Both of those spam cans sold for more then you can get them shipped online. Both were bought by online bidders so why not just go to slickguns or a ammo search engine?

Proxybid
Re: Local auction - several MNs
I've seen it go both ways, highly valuable stuff go for cheap and common items and junk sell for stupid prices. I've made a few good deals on there especially on AK mags. Spent $75 on 3 Hk33 mags, 3 5.56 Weiger mags and a 15rd Chinese Type 84s mag which I flipped for a comfortable profit. Then got into bidding war out of spite and spent three times my limit on some military books (nearly 2x msrp)

Read the small print on proxybid. Your bid may not be the bid that proxybid is bidding on the item. A $400.00 bid from you might just be $275.00 to the auction selling the item. Guess who keeps the diference. Be sure not to miss the 18% buyers fee. Go to the auction direct no middleman.

That's scary Longcolt, Never read all the fine print, I will have to look into that. I have only done proxibid a couple of times. Most often I do phone bids but I was at work so just used the proxibid.

Re: Local auction - several MNs
The fees are what kills some of these auction houses anymore, I just did a phone bid auction and got a 1900 Sestroryetsk for 150 plus 13% fees, so 167.50 for a 1900 Add 35 bucks to ship, I'll take those all day. Most of the larger houses are now at 20% in fees which is a little too much.

Re: Local auction - several MNs
I was lucky enough this weekend to get a pretty nice Chilean M1895 bayonet for $35.00 shipped from an auction. On another auction hosting site (liveauctioneers maybe) I won my 1904 Dragoon for $320 after the fee, and they called 20 mins after auction ended around 10:30pm Saturday, got my shipping and payment information. They had it shipped monday at no cost because apparently they didn't believe it would sell for that much. Pay attention to the shipping details as well...had won 2 rifles from an Arizona auction house only to find out they didn't ship anything, it was the buyers responsibility. I had to pay to have someone pick up the rifles, package and ship it for me...I am not even comfortable admitting to the price I paid.

Pip6214, I am in the same boat from an auction, I was told "sure we can ship we use Mr. so and so", well so & so charges 100 bucks, so now I am looking for a packer and shipper. Read the fine print!!!!
