I saw MillerThyme posting his fine rifle and thus I thought posting few photos of mine - his rifles older cousin. These are not very detailed though.
Izhmash 1988. Refurbished by the Tula-shop. That is where the bad people cut of the bayonet locking lug. Because in some mickey-mouse countries - not here though - bayonet lug is evil. SVD with a bayonet lug= evil military rifle. SVD without a bayonet lug= nice civilian rifle.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

*Cough* Whew, I'll knock the dust off of here.
Likely that rifle was an Iraqi made Al-Kadesih. For some reason I think they have a palm tree design stamped in bas-relief on the magazine. I know the silver and gold plated "Saddam Specials" did.
But, they also use(d) 7.62x39 DMRs that look like scoped RPKs, and PSLs, etc in that role.
Oh, and Mosin-Nagants, Lee Enfields, anything that shoots.
Things could be worse. Work to keep from finding out how much worse.
