A new one coming form Rock Island

Post by Burrhead »

I was looking at Rock Island Arsenal last night and they have a new 1911 based hand gun coming this summer, the 22TCM the cartridge looks like a 7.62X25 necked down to 22 caliber and loaded with a 40 grain bullet producing a 2000FPS muzzle velocity. It will come with a 9mm barrel. The gun is on a high capacity 1911 frame with an 18 round magazine. All I can say is WOW! that really sounds like fun. Here's some pictures from the web site.

Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

That looks fun as hell. They got a price out for it yet? And what's it going to cost to shoot?

That might be the little shooter I'm looking for for when I'm brush hogging.

TCM is, apparently, a 9mm necked down to .223.

Why didn't they just make a 1911 in 7.62 x25?

WELLLLLL, if you are like me and a bit of a gun nut I'll let you in on a possible addition to this. It seems that Numrich Gun Parts has a 7.62X25 Tok barrel with wolf spring available for 1911 guns in 9mm or 38Super Automatic. So if I get one of these and that barrel is still available I'll have to take the plunge, three different calibers on a auto platform really sounds cool to this Hillbilly.

Reminds me of the old .22 Jet.
“Freedom is the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.” George Orwell, English novelist, essayist, and critic, 1903-1950

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Numrich is sold out.

I know someone who has one of those. It works, but not that great, feeding is a little troublesome. The rounds wind up at a very steep angle in the mag and it only fits 6, IIRC.

So you get the .22TCM and the 9mm barrels? Could be a good deal if it works okay.
Damn, I'll bet that's going to leave a mark! Probably hurt too!

That looks like an Assasin's first choice. Cool ammo, I wonder how hard it will be to get.
The first time I saw anything on the 1911 9mm gun's caliber change was here: http://jggunsmith.wordpress.com/2011/11 ... lable-now/
