Chinese SKS Type 56 - matching - no I didn't paint it

This is my first SKS and I paid nothing for it. My neighbor traded it to me for 2 years hunting privileges on my land. I couldn't say no. I was going to let him hunt anyway. I don't think anyone could ever ask for a better neighbor. I am not the one who painted the stock and neither was my neighbor. That was done by a previous owner. I did add the sling and bayonet though. Thanks Liberty Tree. All the serial numbers on the bolt, both parts of the receiver, magazine, trigger guard, and stock are matching. Is this common or no? The Trident Arms import stamp is on the receiver. Is there anything of note about this carbine? Besides the fact that it shoots very well lol. No really it does. Enjoy the pics.

JYD, thats called "Sidewalk Commando camo pattern # 13" . It is very useful when trying to hide among the other Mall Ninja's at the local laser tag emporium.

You should take the bayonet off, turn the blade around 180 degrees and re-assemble it. It is upside down right now as you have it.

It does lay a wee bit flatter. At least enough so I won't stab my hand. I didn't notice before that it was beveled.

Not a bad deal , except for the Krylon camo job

If my eyes are reading it right, it looks like a 0406 factory stamp. It's not a rare variant, but not a commonly seen factory number like the /26\ or a few others. Possibly the easiest thing is to find an unnumbered stock and matching hand guard or find a Chinese fiberglass stock and hand guard, either way just make sure you get a stock with the cut for a spike bayonet.

Why a spike bayonet when it looks like it has a blade?If you can't find a regular stock to replace it try some Goof Off on the camo. paint, if you want to get it back to original. I have one that I got cheap which had an ATI black synthetic stock. I had to to go to a few gun shows but I was finally able find an original Type 56 for $60.00 in good shape. It sure looks and feels better.Good Luck JGC
