Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

And only launched the front takedown pin detent ONCE...but I had foreseen this and had a box set up on the table in front of her to act as a backstop, so no crawling around on the floor searching for it!

That's a nice looking AR build there!

For takedown detents this is hands down the best six bucks I've ever spent!

My vise block for uppers has two 1/4" pins that have holes for retaining clips to go through, works perfect for the detent, but if you aren't ready for it, the detent can push the takedown pin just a tad and there it goes!

She already has her .38SPL revolver on her nightstand, but I'm not worried, I know she could never find another great guy like me and so does she!

Very cool, congratulations to your wife. Is this the first AR she has assembled?

It was. She's no strange to mechanical workings however, when we met we were both working for a manufacturing company that made car wash systems, everything from the automated drive-through ones to the self-serve, the vacuums, RO water systems and everything to do with them. I worked in the fabrication area running the shear, punch-press and brake at first, then over to building the high pressure pumping units for the automated systems, she worked building the R/O and UV drinking water units and in the machine shop there.

Last time out shooting I got her to shoot one of "my" AR's and she was hooked. Had never shot a rifle before and I think I spoiled here with starting her on a scoped AR, shooting my reloads...after the fifth shot through the bull at 50 yards she turned and said "I kinda like this!"

AR parts are getting cheaper every day, if you're looking to build one save up your $$$$, Black Friday is the time to buy parts, although there are some great prices out there already. The barrel on this one is an Andersons' 1:8 16" carbine gas system, I used one in my favorite shooter so went with it again on this one... less than $90 shipped direct from Anderson.

Oh yeah, I'm sure... we both went through two BAD marriages so knew what we DIDN'T want in a spouse! We take pretty good care of each other, I have to say.

Last night we were lying in bed, little after midnight, she turns to me in the dark and asked....

"Is it bad that I'm lying here thinking about shooting my AR?'

Yea,some of us get lucky. My wife and I have been together for 28 yrs with no divorce for either of us . We did'nt get married until we we were in our forties. Waiting to make that jump has paid off, She is a real gun person that can shoot as well as most proffessionals. Her police and miliary background with all kinds of guns has been a real asset for me. She likes to handle them and can field strip most popular models and cals.I still have to clean my own .Gotta draw the line somewhere to keep things even. She even knows how the use reloading equipment. And yes,she can cook too. :BBQ2: She not only thinks about her AR in bed but sleeps with it too.JGC

I don't think it'll get to that level... we already have to share the bed with two dogs, we'd definitely have to go to a king-size bed if she starts bringing firearms in with her too!
