It was. She's no strange to mechanical workings however, when we met we were both working for a manufacturing company that made car wash systems, everything from the automated drive-through ones to the self-serve, the vacuums, RO water systems and everything to do with them. I worked in the fabrication area running the shear, punch-press and brake at first, then over to building the high pressure pumping units for the automated systems, she worked building the R/O and UV drinking water units and in the machine shop there.
Last time out shooting I got her to shoot one of "my" AR's and she was hooked. Had never shot a rifle before and I think I spoiled here with starting her on a scoped AR, shooting my reloads...after the fifth shot through the bull at 50 yards she turned and said "I kinda like this!"
AR parts are getting cheaper every day, if you're looking to build one save up your $$$$, Black Friday is the time to buy parts, although there are some great prices out there already. The barrel on this one is an Andersons' 1:8 16" carbine gas system, I used one in my favorite shooter so went with it again on this one... less than $90 shipped direct from Anderson.
