I would for sure try those settings with all my different kinds of ammo before changing anything. The difference is encouraging from my experience with the M39 at 100 yards. Good Luck! Bill :D

Sure, I'll inform you how good the rifle performs at the range.

Just to be curious - what's the going price for such a rifle in the US in the moment (without bayonet, sling and muzzle cap)? I had to pay 605 Euros (about 780 US$) for the "naked" rifle - okay, a little bit of bad luck, since there was another bidder who also was really keen on this rifle, otherwise I guess the price would have been 100, maybe even 150 Euros lower. Bayonet, sling, muzzle protector and a complete Finnish, in some parts even Sk.Y-marked cleaning kit added another 300 Euros.

In the US I would say perhaps 500.00 US depending on bidder interest. A little less than you paid but likely because they are more plentiful, or at least easier to obtain. You did good I think. :P

Short range summary - the rifle is really a great shooter. Tried four different heavy ball loads (two ~183 gr. silver/yellow tip Hungarian surplus from 1970 and 1987 respectively, 180 gr. Sellier & Bellot FMJ and 182 gr. Prvi Partizan FMJ) and all performed pretty well. Wanted to try also Czech light ball ammo, but didn't receive it in time. Distance was 100 m, shooting from the sandbag while sitting. With the rear sight one notch up the rifle shoots POA on 100 m.

Good shooting for the first trip to the range with a rifle, indeed good. Shows a little tendency to kind of favor the left a bit. I do the same thing and have been told by some I have a tendency to jerk the trigger a bit. Funny thing about it after I have been to the range a bit I find I lose that tendency to favor the left? More familiar with the rifle? I have no logic to add to that statement. That for the first trip with multiple ammos is very encouraging. I think I could get to like that rifle without too much trouble! Bill :lol:
