soft trigger
soft trigger
Fired my 1935 for the first time yesterday. I was very pleased with everything about it, BUT, the trigger pulled back like a sponge about 3/8" before gun fired. Is that normal?

Re: soft trigger
Sounds normal to me. My 91/30's are all that way. My t53 is better from being so worn out haha. Mosins trigger are pretty long and heavy pulls.
Let me make a short, open, blanket comment. There are no good guns. There are no bad guns. Any gun in the hands of a bad man is a bad thing. Any gun in the hands of a descent person is no threat to anyone--- except bad people. -- Charleton Heston
Guns are not good, they are not evil. Save those descriptions for the people holding the firearm. -- Unknown

Re: soft trigger
From what I understand, Mosin triggers run the gamut from soft to hard to everything in between. It's probably the simplest trigger you'll ever see - only 4 parts and three of them move, trigger, trigger pin, sear/sear spring and sear spring screw. I just replaced my sear with a surplus one from Liberty Tree Collectors, and now my trigger has a bit more slop to it, but it works fine.

Re: soft trigger
Yep, all mine are close to the same; some better than others. My absolute best triggers are my '41 Finn M39(no alterations ie polishing parts) and my '42 M38(w/a Huber ball bearing trigger-looks don't reveal it and the original trigger was the worst!). I love shooting the Finn!!
Re: soft trigger
It sound like it's in the normal range to me.
